DO
Use all locks. Many houses have adequate
security locks - however the owners don't lock all locks.
Have them all keyed alike to make it easy to lock-up and un-lock
Check that your security
door is fitted with "triple locks" and a "snib
shield" to stop outsiders poking their finger through
the mesh to operate the snib.
Fit window went locks
on windows you like to leave open for ventilation (kitchen,
bathroom & laundry)
Consider a remote control
for your garage door. It ensures that the door is always locked
and the car is put away.
Fit motion sensing lights
to your outside areas.
Keep your garden shrubs trimmed
- not covering windows.
|
DON'T
Leave a key on the inside
of your security door.
hide a key outside for
emergencies - leave a key with a relative or a close and trusted
neighbour.
Leave your doors unlocked
whilst gardening.
Rely on dowel rods to
lock windows, these can easily be removed from outside.
Leave your rollerdoor
unlocked whilst out - even just for a trip to get the milk.
Let the garden grow to
the extent that it provieds hiding places for intruders.
